Manufacturing as a Service (MaaS): Manufast’s Holistic Approach to Industry Challenges

Introduction:

Hello everyone, welcome to our blog. In today’s blog, we discuss the Manufacturing as a Service business model and how MANUFAST is solving the problems in the manufacturing industry using this business model. We will also discuss the problems in manufacturing with the solutions that we are providing to the customers. Many advantages of MaaS are very beneficial for manufacturing companies, startups, research institutes, etc.

Manufacturing as a Service (MaaS) gives the manufacturing needs to a third party that can handle all your manufacturing requirements. Customers don’t need to invest in the machinery and manpower to take care of the production. You don’t need to manage the vendors and logistics. You can focus on the research and innovation or marketing and growth of your organization without worries about the intricacies of manufacturing.

Understanding Manufacturing as a Service (MaaS)

In today’s world, innovators, startups, or mechanical companies often face manufacturing problems on a day-to-day basis. Numerous problems exist in the company’s design, manufacturing, and production departments. Such as from the idea to the product launching process many steps are difficult and require expertise and machines to complete the work, which requires manpower and huge investments to complete that work.

Problems such as machine design from idea or concept, manufacturing those designs, assemblies, and then testing/trials. This process requires manpower, machines, and time. Often companies choose to outsource this work to vendors, then there are newer problems of vendor management, vendor development, logistics, and reworks.

After that, there are problems like maintaining quality standards, timely delivery, managing multiple vendors at a time, and most importantly maintaining cost-effectiveness.

To cater to these problems Manufacturing as a Services provider is the best choice to handle all this design, manufacturing, and supply chain work. They can handle your manufacturing, supply chain, and quality standards with timely delivery of your work.

Manufast’s Holistic Approach in Manufacturing as a Service

Manufast works on the Manufacturing as a Service business model. We aim to help small companies, startups, and home innovators solve their design and manufacturing problems by giving them quality solutions that we offer.

Manufast gives manufacturing and product development services with end-to-end support, right from idea generation to batch/mass production.

We manage vendors according to the manufacturing needs of the customers, customer need not to follow up with multiple vendors at a time they only need to have contact with our team. They don’t need to develop vendor for their work, it is a very time-consuming process. They also need not to keep an eye on the quality of the work. The total responsibility for their work is taken by the Manufast team.

The customer only needs to submit their requirements to our team. All the processes of design(if required), manufacturing and logistics are taken care of by team MANUFAST.

Efficient Vendor Management with Manufast

We cover almost 45 types of manufacturing processes. To cover these processes we have developed around 250 vendors. For every process, we have almost 8-10 options. We also decide our vendor based on our past experiences and the quality of the work given by the vendor. We take quotations from multiple vendors for the same work. After that, we sort out vendors based on the criteria of cost, quality, expertise & experience of the vendor, understanding of the work, and delivery time.

Based on the fulfilment of the above criteria we give work to vendors. After giving work we take regular follow-ups and check the quality of the work according to the design requirement.

Establishing a good relationship with vendors is very important. If you maintain a good relationship with the vendor then half of the work becomes easy to handle. It will help you in managing your work and fulfilling the sudden demands of the customers.

Accelerating Manufacturing through Parallel Manufacturing

One more advantage of the MaaS is Parallel manufacturing. If we have an order for a large quantity of work then we can split out the work based on the capacity of the vendor so that even the large quantity of work is manufactured in real quick time.

We can give the same work to multiple manufacturers at the same time. It will save lots of time. If one vendor requires 10 days to complete X amount of work then we can give these work to 5 different vendors so the time required will be only 2 days to complete the same amount of work.

Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Improved Efficiency

When we get a requirement of design and manufacturing. Our team first decides on the concept and then the basic design of the work is formed.

While designing the part, our team thinks of the manufacturability of the part and how can this part be manufactured using less costly methods in a quick time. We brainstormed on the manufacturing processes used to manufacture the product while designing it.

While designing we think about the cost of the raw material, availability of the raw material, type of manufacturing processes used, cost of the manufacturing, manufacturing difficulty, availability of vendor, time to manufacture, the budget of the customer, the urgency of the work, the quality requirement of the customer, and so on.

Overcoming Pricing Barriers for Small Quantity Manufacturing

Vendors often charge much higher prices for single parts or small-quantity manufacturing because of the fixed setup cost and higher material prices for small quantities. And they have to give special time to do this small work so they don’t take it as a priority, so the delivery time also affects. Even giving a higher price for manufacturing the customer ends up getting the work late.

If a customer gives work to MANUFAST then they will get a lower price with faster delivery of their work. Because we have vendors whom we gave continuous work and because of good relation and continuous work they don’t mind working with small quantity. So it will help our customers in terms of cost as well as time.

Higher Quality Standards with Manufast

In any type of work, it is very very important that you deliver the required quality work to the customer. You can go one step further in delivering quality work to your customer but you can’t compromise on the quality.

Team MANUFAST makes sure that we deliver the utmost quality to our customers. MANUFAST doesn’t compromise on the quality of work. We check the quality of the parts at every stage of the manufacturing. We have our team to check and ensure that we deliver the best work as required by our customers.

Streamlining Operational Processes

There are many problems in the operational phase from quotation generation to product delivery. The problem starts from the quotation generation from the requirement given by the customer. In the manufacturing industry vendors usually don’t give quick quotations of the manufacturing parts. They usually take 2 to 7 days to give the quotation because they don’t have any proper system to generate quick quotations.

Manufast has the systems to generate quotations in real quick time. We have rates for all types of manufacturing and materials. So we can calculate the cost based on the design provided by the customer and the quality required by the customer.

Timely Deliveries with Manufast

Due to parallel manufacturing, quality control systems, options in vendor selection, quick quotation generation system, all types of manufacturing facilities under one roof, etc. MANUFAST can deliver the parts in a quick time.

Even if there is a problem with the rework of the parts then also we can do it in a quick time due to the above reasons. We value the time of our customers is precious so we try to deliver as fast as we can.

Advantages of Contract Manufacturing with Manufast

It is no new concept as it seems. Contract manufacturing is the future of manufacturing. Because we have enough manufacturing capabilities we do not have an organized approach towards it. Usually, outsourcing has so many benefits if you find the right vendor or right contract manufacturer. The only disadvantage of contract manufacturing is that if you give work to the wrong vendor then god help you. It will ruin your money and resources.

When the right vendor meets the right customer then it is a win-win situation for both. Customers don’t have to worry about the manufacturing intricacies, they can focus on research, product design, and development. They will save the huge investment of machinery and expert manpower to produce the work. By contracting the work they will have the prestige of having expert people work for them and produce their job. They don’t need to worry about the quality and time of delivery.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, Manufacturing as a Service (MaaS) offers a revolutionary approach to addressing the challenges faced by companies in the manufacturing industry.
